Top 5 Tourist Sites
1. Victoria Falls, Zambia
Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-o-Tunya, is shared by both Zambia and Zimbabwe, although the Zambian side is the most popular. It has the biggest sheet of cascading water in the world, even though it is not the highest or widest waterfall.
2. Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
The highest mountain in Africa at 5,895 metres is also one of the most spectacular mountains in the world. Its snowy peaks contrast with the hot plains below, and it is one of the most iconic mountains in the world. It is also fairly easy to climb making it a tourist hotspot.
3. The Pyramids at Giza, Egypt
There are many pyramids in Egypt, but the most famous are those found at Giza. These wonders of the ancient world need no introduction, and they are regularly recommended as one of the must-see-before-you-die places in the world.
4. Kruger National Park, South Africa
Kruger is one of the most popular places to view wildlife in Africa, but there are plenty of others including the Serengeti in Tanzania. Here you can see the ‘Big Five’ of lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos and elephants, and it is well equipped to deal with tourists.
5. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Located in the south west of Uganda, this is one of the last places on earth where you can see Mountain Gorillas in the wild and half of the world’s population live here. Tours are strictly limited to a small number of tourists each day, but if you can book ahead this is one of the highlights of any trip to Africa.
